Hi! Spring travel always brings that mix of excitement and “did I forget something?” energy—especially as we start thinking through bigger trips, routines, and all the little details that matter on the go.

This week, I’m sharing a few things on my mind—traveling with family, raising good little travelers, and prepping for our next trip.

A Family Trip to Croatia (With Kids & Grandparents)

Dubrovnik, Croatia

A few years ago, we took a trip to Croatia with all four grandparents, and it was truly one of the most memorable family experiences we’ve had. With its stunning Adriatic coastline, charming historic towns, and crystal-clear water, Croatia is a rare balance of adventure and ease—whether you’re traveling with little kids, older family members, or a mix of both.

What makes it especially special:

  • Walkable, scenic towns — easy to get around, with plenty of stops for gelato and beautiful views

  • Built-in experiences everyone enjoys — boat rides, beach time, and relaxed seaside meals

  • Easy day-trips - You can even get to other countries for day trips

The beauty of Croatia is that you don’t need to over-plan—the destination itself creates the experience.

We arranged for a driver who took us on day trips, including a visit to Bosnia, which added such a meaningful layer to the trip. On our list for next time? Montenegro.

For a full recap of our itinerary and all the details, you can read my post on Croatia here (which happens to be one of our most popular blogs!).

Family Conversation Game for Spring Break

One thing I’m especially looking forward to over spring break is slowing down and having more meaningful conversations with the kids—whether we’re traveling or at home.

As my kids get older, I’ve noticed they don’t always share as easily about school, friendships, or what’s on their minds. I find myself having to ask more questions just to get a glimpse into their world.

That’s exactly why I created my family conversation cards:

  • Easy, digital prompts you can pull up on your phone

  • Perfect for travel days or everyday moments

  • Turn “I don’t know” into fun, engaging conversations

They’ve helped us create a more open, natural space for connection—even when life feels busy. And when it feels like a game, the kids are so much more willing to participate.

As they grow more independent, I may not always be with them—but I want to keep that strong foundation of communication.

Don’t Overlook Your Own Backyard (Use GetYourGuide at Home)

One thing I’m planning to use more is GetYourGuide—not just for big trips, but for finding things to do right at home.

It’s an easy way to discover and book local experiences, tours, and activities you might not find otherwise.

If you’re staying local for spring break (or a weekend), it’s a great way to:

  • Discover new activities nearby

  • Quickly find and book experiences

  • Try something outside your usual routine

  • Make everyday moments feel more special

Sometimes the best memories come from saying yes to something new right where you are. Click here to explore.

Raising Good Travelers (It Starts at Home)

I’ve been thinking a lot about what makes kids “good travelers”—and it really comes down to small, consistent habits at home.

Things like:

  • Sitting properly at the dinner table

  • Keeping their belongings organized

  • Taking care of their items between stops

  • Knowing what’s theirs (and where it goes)

These simple routines make a huge difference when you’re living out of a suitcase.

It’s not about perfection—it’s about building small, repeatable habits that make travel feel easier (and a lot less chaotic).

👉 If you’re working on these at home, this is exactly why I created my digital kids habit tracker and rewards chart. You can find it here.

It gives kids a clear, visual system to stay consistent, see their progress, achieve rewards, and feel motivated to follow through.

And those small wins at home? They turn into smoother, more enjoyable travel days for everyone.

What I’m double-checking before our next resort trip

Even after a lot of trips, I’ve learned that the difference between a smooth vacation and a stressful one often comes down to the little things you double-check before you leave.

Here’s what’s on my list right now:

It’s not glamorous—but it’s the kind of prep that makes a huge difference once you’re actually there. See my Amazon Shop for items we’ve used and liked!

What’s Next?

Whether you’re planning a big international trip, trying to build better habits at home, or just looking for something fun to do this weekend—travel (and life) really comes down to intention.

The more we prepare, simplify, and create small systems that work for our families, the more space we have to actually enjoy the moments that matter.

Thanks for being here this week—I’m so grateful to be on this journey with you.

Until next time, follow me on Instagram.

Happy Travels!
