Finally recovering from Spring Break over here — and getting everyone back into our normal routine, prepping for visitors this weekend, and celebrating our son’s birthday. We just got back from Cancun, and it ended up being one of those trips that felt both special and surprisingly manageable with four little kids.

Why we chose Cancun for a Family Trip with Four Young Kids

For this years birthday, our son chose a family trip instead of a party. With Spring Break lining up well his birthday month, it felt like the easiest way to make it special. Our kids were SO excited to celebrate him in this way.

He’s currently in a big jungle and wildlife phase, but with four kids under six (and life at home), we needed something simple, cost-effective, and easy to plan. That’s exactly why Cancun worked so well for us.

  • ✈️ Short, direct flight from Atlanta

  • 🏨 Family-friendly resorts with everything on-site

  • 🐒 Wildlife + jungle experiences our kids loved

  • 🌴 A mix of adventure and slow resort days

What stood out most was how manageable it all felt—we could do one activity a day and still have plenty of downtime, which made traveling with four little kids actually enjoyable.

If you’re looking for an easy Mexico trip with kids, especially with toddlers, staying at the Paradisus Playa Del Carmen was such a great option. For my full review on the resort and the rest of our excursions in Cancun, visit my post here.

Co-Parenting While Traveling

One thing we’re learning—especially with four little kids—is that a smooth trip isn’t just about planning… it’s about being aligned as parents.

Before trips, we like to talk through a few simple questions:

  • Do we want this to feel relaxing or activity-filled?

  • What would make this trip feel like a “win” for each of us (the adults and each child)?

Because those answers aren’t always the same—and you can feel it when they’re not.

Traveling with kids often feels like “parenting in a different location,” and most friction comes from unspoken expectations. One parent might want a workout, the other a break—but if it’s not said out loud, it can lead to tension.

There’s also the shift from your normal routine. At home, you have built-in breaks. On a trip, you’re together all the time—which is special, but also an adjustment.

Getting aligned ahead of time doesn’t make a trip perfect—but it makes it feel a whole lot better.

If you’re planning a trip, I shared a few simple prompts that helped us—see my post on co-parenting while traveling.

Experience More Resorts with ‘Resort Pass’

We’ve never really been big “resort” people… and yet here we are—completely sold on the convenience.

On this trip, it really stood out how easy everything felt: pools, food, and kids’ activities all in one place with zero logistics to manage. With four little kids, that simplicity made a huge difference.

That’s also how we found ResortPass—a platform that lets you book day passes to hotel pools, spas, and amenities without staying overnight. It’s a great option whether you’re:

  • Traveling and want a resort day without the full stay

  • Or staying local and looking for an easy “mini vacation”

I’ve even started looking at options in our own city because it’s such an easy way to get that resort feel close to home.

Flytographer For Your Family Photoshoot

We used Flytographer to capture our Spring Break photos this year—and I’m so glad we did.

I’ll be honest, booking a family photoshoot can sometimes feel a little “extra,” especially since I’m really the only one in our family of six who gets excited about it. But every time we do it, we’re always so happy to have the memories afterward.

Flytographer makes the whole process really simple:

  • Choose your destination

  • Pick your date and time

  • Browse and book your photographer

All communication and planning happens directly through the platform, which keeps things easy and organized.

What’s Next?

Today marks 2 years since one of my closest friends, Munira, passed away from Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC)—a rare head and neck cancer.

I wish a cure had been found in her lifetime. Since it wasn’t, I hold onto hope that it will come for the next person facing this.

To honor her, our friends are hosting a walk/run supporting ACC research:

  • 📍 Seymour Lieberman Trail, Memorial Park — Houston, TX

  • 🗓 Sunday, April 26 an 9:00 AM

If you’re local, it’s open to everyone— would love to have you join. RSVP here.
